Having made an assortment of bags, I was browsing All Free Sewing for some ideas.  I was flicking past many as I am still a bit wary of anything with a complicated part or a curved seam.  I was mainly looking for another variation of bag but I came across this tutorial at Sew Delicious for a Peggy skirt.  Yes, a skirt; my first item of clothing!

The tutorial was well explained so I had a go!  Here’s what it looks like!

It is quite bright but I do really like it!  However, it only just fits as I measured the waistline for where by belly button is but didn’t take into account that I would have to allow extra for it to pull up past my bum!  I know to add a couple of extra inches next time! :-0

So, I can now breathe a huge sigh of relief as I have made my first piece of clothing…. but I won’t breathe out too much or it might not fit!

  1. I’ve looked at that Peggy skirt for some time, pondering whether to make it or not (I follow both All Free Sewing and Sew Delicious). I really like the material you used in this one, and that’s a good point about remembering I have to pull it up over my hips. 😆

    1. Go for it! It’s actually a nice fit 🙂 I just haven’t got a top that will go with it at all! Guess I will have to try and make something! 🙂

      1. it’s a really cute pattern, even for someone my age. 😆 I was picturing a peasant blouse type of top – which I don’t have but can make. You should post a photo when you get yours made – would love to see what you come up with. 😆

Let me know what you think...
