I realize that, once again, I’ve not written any blogs for a little while. Life gets in the way too easily! Anyway, I have managed to get a little bit of sewing done over the last few months and I’m itching to share my makes with you. I’ve actually paused my sewing production at the moment to try and catch up with these blog posts!
This was one of my first makes of 2018…I just never blogged about it! Now I’m catching up with blogging about my makes, I thought that it needed to be shared. In all honesty, I have only made one of these even though I had the intention to make one for each Maisy and Buzz.

We seem to have a few friends who have just had babies or are about to have them. I always think that handmade gifts are a lovely keepsake and I like to give them whenever I can. I’ve made a couple of simple blankets in the past and have liked the way that the basic patchwork ones turn out.
We have a new quilting & yarn shop in the next city over from ours…when I say city, it makes it seem like a good old distance to drive but Fairhope is only 10 minutes from where we live. It has a beautiful downtown area with lots of little independent stores that we like to support. In The Making opened a few months ago and I believe they have a store open in Birmingham, Alabama also.

So we are more than half way through the year and I’m only on my fifth Sunday Sevens post! At least they are still going though…and I keep seeing a few other bloggers do their posts regularly so that’s always nice to see too.
I feel like recently I’ve done more sewing than I have done in a while so I think I’m starting to get back into the swing of things. I’ve got a few future projects lined up that I’m excited to dig into. I’ve been trying to get things done while Rosie takes her afternoon nap but sometimes she joins me by the sewing table as you will see below. Here’s a couple of mid project photos. Both projects will be blogged about soon!

When I made my #2018makenine plans earlier on in the year, they contained baby clothes. Yep, that’s right…baby clothes for my baby. Quite often I still think that it’s crazy that I’ve got the opportunity to make clothes for MY baby. Well, Rosie is now 8 months old and apart from a couple of accessories, I’ve actually only made 2 clothing items for her. We were given the Simplicity 8304 Baby Gear pattern as a gift and I loved the little dresses so much. I decided that this would be my first venture into sewing for Rosie!

For a little while now, we’ve been introducing ourselves to the world of Essential Oils and embracing them into our home and lifestyle. Despite being very skeptical to begin with, I must now admit that I am completely in love and am so interested in learning more about them and their uses.
Having a baby in the house has changed how I’ve been looking at certain things in life. One of my main goals is to move away from chemical living as much as I can. Whilst researching this, I came across Young Living, an Essential Oil company. I’d read a little bit about the company before so I started to do some research into their ethics and standards, and was VERY impressed with what I was reading. I initially wanted something to support my immune system as the seasons changed. Due to breastfeeding, I was very hesitant to take medication every day. Again…more research was done and I decided that I wanted to get started with a few oils and a diffuser. I went to my local supplier and got set up with a Premium Starter Kit, saving over $200!
I made it my aim to either use my oils or educate myself on oils every day after buying the kit. I have been so surprised at how many different uses they have. So that brings me to write this blog post. I want to share with you what Essential Oils are!

As new parents we found it hard to decide what we needed for Rosie. Most of my pregnancy was spent researching products and deciding what to buy. I came across quite a few posts that would list items but not say why they were useful. So here I am making my own little post sharing why we loved these items. If you have any more suggestions, please leave them in the comments below. I would love to hear what worked for you too!
When we came home with Rosie, we camped out in our living room with this Pack N Play. When looking for things for her to sleep in, we wanted something that was easy to move and practical. We liked this Graco Pack N Play with the napper as the bassinet flipped over into a little reclined seat. My thought was that if she didn’t like napping in one of the options, there were 2 more to try! Over time, she progressed from napping in the bassinet to sleeping on the big mattress underneath. I think this was great for us to use to transition her into her own bedroom crib. Another well used feature was the changing mat. We could get all of our supplies in the pockets at the side and the mat itself was completely waterproof, which we were glad of multiple times!
