Last weekend we visited Baldwin County Fair. Just across the bay in the neighbour County. It reminded me of being at home. Most years we would visit Hope or Bakewell Show in Derbyshire. Farmers would show their prize animals and vegetables. There would be a range of stalls selling handmade lovelies and food. We would wear our wellies and take an umbrella incase of unpredictable showers.
As we entered the Baldwin Country Fair, tractors were lined up with competition rosettes. Men in cowboy boots and hats stood around beaming with pride.
The fair had started on the Tuesday before we visited on the Saturday. I felt that many things had already been packed away and taken home but there were still a few chickens and turkeys on display.
We enjoyed the old-school fairground rides. Adam had a go at the little shooting range and we whizzed around the ferris wheel.
Very American! No photos of the archetypal cowboy…?
Unfortunately not…my iPhone camera didn’t do well with focus this day!
