Quite some time ago I bought a little set of Watercolours and the other bits of equipment to start painting…Adam still needs to make me an easel though! I saw that Just Add Watercolor by Helen Birch as available for review on Blogging For Books.
I’m still getting used to the cooking styles and tastes that come from the Southern States. Most things I have loved but some things have just blown my mind because I just never seen them before. When this Lighten Up, Y’all cookbook by Virginia Wells became available for review on Blogging For Books, I snapped it up quickly!
I recently joined the Blogging for Books site… you should totally check it out! Free books in exchange for a review! I didn’t go for a fiction book to start with as some of the non-fiction books appealed to me more. There were a couple of craft books but this cook book really stood out to me. All of my cook books are still back in the UK so I jumped at the opportunity to have one that I could flick through and make notes in!
If anyone has ever offered me a cup of green tea, I have always politely declined. I had a bad experience with some green tea ice cream once; it was gross! But lately I have been expanded my tea trying palette and was intrigued when I was asked to try out some Matcha Green Tea Powder from Kiss Me Organics. With the powder, I received a link for a pdf recipe book with loads of stuff in – hot drinks, cold drinks, baking, pizza dough, sauces…loads! I never really realised how much you could actually make with green tea powder!
A few weeks ago, I received my first VoxBox from Influenster. Influenster is a social review site, where you can write and search for product reviews. I have found it quite useful when buying certain things. I will always have a quick look on Influenster to read the product reviews. Reviews are completed on just about anything; shops, makeup, beauty products, food, appliances etc. If you write reviews on here, you are awarded with points that go towards certain badges. The more points, badges and tasks you do, the more likely you are to get a questionnaire to see if you are suitable for a product testing VoxBox. Sharing reviews on social media also helps too…the more followers you have across the board increases your social impact.
We wanted to make the most of Adam’s week off so I booked a night in New Orleans. For us, New Orleans is only a couple of hours away, which is quite cool. A trip to New Orleans also means that we get to be in three States in the space of 2 hours; Alabama, Missisippi and Louisiana.
I had read quite a lot about the French Quarter and quite fancied staying over somewhere near this area. The architecture in the guide books was lush and it looked like a quaint little village rather than a large city! I managed to find a guest house, right on Bourbon St, which seemed to be the main street running through the French Quarter. We arrived, parked up and were amazed by the building straight away. Vintage tiled floors, a grand staircase and delicate wrought iron external fixings. Lafitte Guest House was easy to get to and even easier to check in. Our room wasn’t ready straight away as we had arrived quite early. The man at the desk recommended that we tried a place a few doors down for the best Po-Boys in town.
