Review: The Healthy Mind Cookbook

With my recent health kick and the opportunity to review another book from Blogging For Books, I chose to take a look at The Healthy Mind Cookbook by Rebecca Katz & Mat Edelson.

When I received the cookbook, I quickly realised that this was soooo much more than just a healthy cookbook!  The first few chapters of the book explain exactly ‘how’ food can help you become healthily; not only improving diet and fitness but also how food can improve your mood, memory and concentration.  I was quite surprised at the science behind it all too – all of the claims are backed up with results from studies.  Impressive!

Obviously, the recipes in this book all use the foods that have been discussed  in the initial chapters.  There are so many tasty things that I want to try!

I had a go at making the Quinoa Turkey Meatballs and paired them with my own sauce and pasta.  The recipe made plenty of meatballs, enough to freeze for at least one more meal!  I was intrigued as to how the quinoa would work within the meatballs.  I initially thought that they would make the meat mixture too wet to bind, but it all worked out fine!  They were soooo tasty and healthy too. 🙂

I received this book from the Blogging for Books program in exchange for this review.
