Birch box January 2016

At the end of November 2016 I subscribed myself to a couple of beauty boxes.  I have a huge love for trying new make up products and had found that each time I went into my local beauty store, I spent a small fortune to satisfy my need of trying new products.  I then noticed a Buzzfeed article for the top beauty subscription boxes of 2016.   After reading, I signed up for 3 different monthly subscription boxes and one quarterly box.  I hope to put a quick review of each one on here to share some new products with you.

One of my monthly subscription boxes is Birchbox.  This subscription is $10 each month and it  contains 5 sample sized products tailored to your skin, hair & style.  Each month I receive an email asking me which box I would like & if you get in early enough you can actually choose some of your samples.  I was a little late to see the email this month though so I got the curated box, which is a predetermined set of samples.  I didn’t mind this though because I love to try anything new!

So onto the products!

January Birchbox

1 – Shiseido Perfect Cleansing Oil – As you’ve probably guessed, this is an oil based cleanser.  It can be used on wet or dry skin, which makes cleansing an easier process for me as I tend to throw water everywhere if I have to wet my face!  It does make my face feel super smooth but I still have to go over with a toner or micellar water.

2 – Wilma Schumann Skin Care Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads – Flattering, oh yes!  They were cooling and it was quite refreshing to have them on whilst relaxing on the sofa.  My eyes felt somewhat brighter after wearing them.

3 – Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner – I’ve never been able to use liquid eyeliner effectively.  It always looks like a child has drawn on my eyelid with a crayon whenever I try it.  I know that practise makes perfect though so a sample is just right for me to give it a go.  This applies quite nicely, I just need to work on my steady hand.  Any tips would be welcome!

4 – Chella Eyebrow Defining Gel – Again, I hardly ever ‘do’ my eyebrows, mainly because they’re not in bad shape and my glasses hide them most of the time.  However, I do really like this gel!  I’ve been brushing this clear gel over my eyebrows in a morning and I can’t even feel it, plus it keeps them looking tamed all day.

5 – Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk – This dry shampoo blends really well and can’t be seen once it’s been brushed through.  The smell is really nice…it reminds me of my Grandma’s talc!

I’m planning on blogging about the other boxes I receive too.

I know that I inspired Camilla to subscribe and can’t wait to see what products she got in her box, especially as it’s Birchbox but the U.K. Version!

Does anyone else get a subscription box?  What do you think to them? I would love to know!

On a side note…I wasn’t paid to write this post & I bought the box with my own $$$ 🙂

I must admit, I’ve never been interested in make up, but I do look after my skin. I like the idea of any sort of subscription box though. A parcel to look forward to each month is an exciting prospect!

I do get really excited when I get my shipping email! I also subscribe to a quarterly natural skincare box called Yuzen and the first one had some lovely skincare products in! Maybe something like that would work better for you??? Not sure if that’s available in the UK though :-/

Ooh, the packaging looks adorable! I currently don’t subscribe to a beauty box, but if I did, I would subscribe to birch box, especially since it looks like you got such great things this month!

Let me know what you think...
