Birch box January 2016

At the end of November 2016 I subscribed myself to a couple of beauty boxes.  I have a huge love for trying new make up products and had found that each time I went into my local beauty store, I spent a small fortune to satisfy my need of trying new products.  I then noticed a Buzzfeed article for the top beauty subscription boxes of 2016.   After reading, I signed up for 3 different monthly subscription boxes and one quarterly box.  I hope to put a quick review of each one on here to share some new products with you.

One of my monthly subscription boxes is Birchbox.  This subscription is $10 each month and it  contains 5 sample sized products tailored to your skin, hair & style.  Each month I receive an email asking me which box I would like & if you get in early enough you can actually choose some of your samples.  I was a little late to see the email this month though so I got the curated box, which is a predetermined set of samples.  I didn’t mind this though because I love to try anything new!

Sunday Sevens #82

So this week I tried hard with remembering to take photos but I’m not uploading on a Sunday! Maybe next week I’ll get both done 🙂

1. The weather is something that I still can’t get used to here in Alabama. This week we’ve had rain, thunderstorms, wind, hail & gorgeous sunshine! Whenever it is windy, everything gets ‘pollened’. I took this picture outside of our apartment from the inside of our truck, which is supposed to be black!

Review: HASK Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Hair Care Collection

I recently got the opportunity to review the HASK Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Hair Care  Collection.  I was already familiar with the HASK brand but had never actually used it myself.   My local beauty stores sell it and I’ve been tempted to purchase it a couple of times based on the smell alone!

I was sent 4 items to review:

  • Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Shampoo
  • Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Conditioner
  • Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Deep Conditioner
  • Macadamia Shine Oil Treatment

I also got a HASK mini hairbrush as a little extra! 🙂

The macadamia oil range is aimed at people who have dry, damaged or over-processed hair.  Well, luckily enough for me (!!) my hair is all three!  I can have my hair cut and by the time it comes around to the next wash, it can be full of split ends, dry and brittle.  I always love hair products that allow my hair to feel smooth, look silky and smell delicious!

I’ve used the HASK Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner three times now and I’ve fallen in love with it so much!  The shampoo lathers up really well and I’ve found that a little does go a long way.  The conditioner is really smooth and feels luxurious but I have had to apply this liberally to ensure it goes through all of my hair.  Both smell absolutely amazing!  Adam even went into the bathroom afterwards and asked if I had been lighting candles in there.

Before blowdrying, I applied the Macadamia Shine oil Treatment through my hair, avoiding the roots as advised.  Once dry my hair felt so smooth, even without straightening it! The ends definitely seemed to be tamed and smoother than usual too.

The Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Deep Conditioner comes in a single use packet.  I kept this on for 10 minutes and it seriously worked wonders on my hair!  It made it smoother than ever!

I’ve really enjoyed reviewing this hair care range and I’m actually looking forward to buying some of the other HASK products as they do have some other ranges that I think will be great for my unruly hair! Check out their full range here 🙂

Painting Those Lashes!

Before I buy ANYTHING, I always research extensively into what it is that I might be buying.  Sometimes products exceed my expectations and sometimes they can leave me feeling a little disappointed.  I’ve been trying out a few different mascaras, trying to work out what works the best for me.  I wanted to share my opinions with the hope of helping my readers out with future mascara purchases!

1.  Benefit They’re Real Lengthening Mascara  US LINK | UK LINK

I would class this as a slight impulse buy.  I wanted to buy a higher end mascara to wear on my wedding day. I did a quick check on the internet to see what would be available in my local beauty store and this was on offer at the time.  Before purchasing this, I had never bought anything other than drug store makeup!! Ever!! I did use Virgin Vie (Can anyone remember that?) for a while but that phase soon passed.

I love how this is applied – it doesn’t look ‘clumpy’ on the brush.  It goes on easily and gives a good layer on the first application.  It can be built up more if needed.  The only thing that puts me off this mascara is that it is quite difficult to remove!  Even with a lot of eye makeup remover!  I have to leave soaked pads on my eyelids for quite a while…it’s probably why they sell an eye makeup remover as an accompanying product!

Keeping Our Skin Refreshed :-)

Quick Review Post 🙂

I was recently sent this Maxasorb B12 Vitamin B12 Cream from Vita sciences to test out!  I was firstly drawn to it because it helps soothe dry, itchy, or irritated skin patches from eczema, psoriasis, or other skin rash.  Now I don’t have eczema, psoriasis or any other skin rashes BUT I do have really dry hands, especially over Winter.  The cream also helps anti-aging, supports the renewal of healthy skin cells, reduces appearance of wrinkles and moisturises skin.
