A Plethora of Presents

December was a good month.  It was my birthday, Christmas and the time when our parents began their visit.  All of these meant that we/I were given a lot of presents, which was lovely and very kind of the ‘givers’.  I wanted to share a few of the items received as many of them are sewing related or quite unique.

First up, Adam got me this super cool Alexander Henry fabric.  There is a yard so I’m hoping to make a bag or a top out of it.

Sewing Santas

What could be better than a sewing themed secret santa?… I hear you…nothing!!

When I read that my friend, Camilla, had signed up for the #sewingsanta over on Lisa’s blog, I was gutted that I couldn’t participate because I was in the USA. 😦  I even had a little strop!  However, Camilla then told me that she had Jessie comment on her blog saying that she couldn’t get involved either as she lived in Singapore.  Well, a couple of emails later, I had arranged with Jessie that we should do our own international swap between us two!  😀

I have already seen that Jessie has received the package I sent and loved it!  Read about it here.

Her parcel arrived a few days before Christmas.  I was patient and I put it under our tree. When Christmas morning came, it was one of the first presents I opened…with excitement of course!

Jessie included a little note to explain each item.

Sunday Sevens #13

Oooops…I am a day late this week! We have been so busy getting things ready for when our parents arrive in just over a week! We still have a lot to do but we are making good progress!
We have also decided to get married while they are over here! 😀 We are very excited and now need to plan everything… for the 27th December!

So, here is my week:

1. Finished the dress that I had cut out last week. I like the style but the collar looks slightly odd when the dress is on.

Sunday Sevens #9

My ninth week of #sundaysevens, a blog series that you can get involved with! Just choose 7 photos to represent your week! Easy peasy!

I’m a little late with posting this week as I was DETERMINED to get No.7 finished!

1.  Sunday dinner. Finally found a joint of meat that we are happy with…and stuffing! It’s not Paxo though!

Cute Bag Pattern Alert!

SONY DSC

With all the beach trips we have been on and the many we have planned, I am always finding myself wanting to take a crafty project with me.  Most recently it has been crochet, but I have also had some hand sewing that would have been nice to complete on the beach with the waves crashing in front of me!  I needed a little bag where I could keep crafty bits separate to sun cream, drinks and towels to avoid any damage.

I came across a pin from Lori over at A Bee in my Bonnet.  Right at the top of her post is a row of these adorable little drawstring bags!  Cute and just perfect for the bag I had in mind; somewhere to put a few little bits, easy to access and covers the contents up from any sand that may be blowing my way.  I headed over to Ayumi at Pink Penguin for the tutorial.

Ayumi suggests using oilcloth for the bag, which would be perfect if I had some…but I didn’t and I wanted to try and use some of the fabric that I already have.

I chose 3 fabrics to use, making the handles the same as the main body fabric, and I made the rim the same as the lining.
