Vintage Pledge 2015: Number 3 – McCall’s 5597

I am slowly working my way through my stash of vintage patterns; I haven’t got many but I have enough to be able to pick one to sew every now and again.  I chose this McCall’s 5597 pattern as I liked the look of view F – a simple blouse to wear with shorts or skirts during the Summer.  As this pattern was printed in 1977, it also counts as my third make for the 2015 Vintage Pattern Pledge.

Sunday Sevens #44 – A Blog Series To Join In With!

Sunday Sevens is a weekly blog series that YOU can join in with at any time!  You can do a post every week or just when you fancy 🙂  Display 7 photographs from your week; just to let your readers know what else you get up to between those bigger blog posts.  There’s even an image to grab for your sidebar!

Use the #sundaysevens tag and take a look at the Pinterest board containing all the posts.  Please let me know if I’ve not posted your blog on there or if you have started posting Sunday Sevens blogs …sometimes I don’t get notified of the ping backs to my page!

So, here are seven photographs from my week: 🙂

1. A couple of weeks ago I ordered 4 dresses in the eShakti sale. They arrived this week and these are the ones I’m keeping…one of them was far too short and was certainly not a dress!

Shifting Along with Gertie

I received the Gertie Sews Vintage Casual book for Christmas last year.  I’ve often picked it up and browsed the pages, but I’ve always put it back down again.  I think I was a little scared as I originally thought the instructions were a little vague and the instructional pictures didn’t show ‘real’ fabric!  I had talked myself into getting a little more sewing experience before making anything out of the book.

Blakeley & Bugs

Independence Day is something we have never celebrated before and now it ia national holiday that we get to be involved in! Adam got Friday off work so we had a great 3 day weekend 🙂

We knew that we weren’t going to be heading out to watch any fireworks as we couldn’t leave Maisy alone so we ended up going for a nice walk & an explore Saturday morning.  We headed to Blakeley State Park, which is around a 10 minute drive from us.  It was $3 per adult to enter and we got a map, a self-guided tour and a bit of historical literature.  We parked up and decided to have a wander on our own rather than use the guide.  It was so hot and we knew that we wouldn’t get it all done in a couple of hours.

Cynthia Rowley 1873

The Cynthia Rowley 1873 was one of my target makes for June.  I set up a little Facebook group for a few other bloggers who also wanted to sew this garment and it was great to sew along with them.  Sharing fabric ideas, progress and sewing tips was lovely to do and it was nice to be able to share certain things before actually writing the proper blog post.

Sunday Sevens #43 – A Weekly Blog Series

Here we are again! I’ve tried to be organised this week and get my Sunday Sevens post out earlier in the day 🙂 It’s been funny old week for me this week…

1. After Maisy’s lump incident last week, she was then poorly on Sunday for a few days! I don’t think the two were related though. We think she must have picked something up on one of our walks that upset her tummy; she is so low to the floor & it’s very easy for her to snaffle whatever she finds before we can get it out of her mouth! She was very needy and spent a lot of time on my lap!
