Just write your own blog post, share your own set of photos and use the #sundaysevens tag. The Pinterest board is here…. feel free to share it! Here are my Sunday Sevens 😀

1. We are trying to eat better. We haven’t cut all traces of fat out of our meals because I like to have a balanced diet. But we have cut crisps (chips!) and candy out almost completely, and we are trying cook meals from scratch rather than use processed meal sauces and mixes. Here is Adam with his homemade chipotle beef burgers…they were delicious!

Pipe Fitting Table Lamp

Quite often I end up feeling a little bit guilty in the evenings or weekends if I am sewing or crafting.  Without making him sound boring, Adam hasn’t really got any hobbies at the moment.  Everything that he would normally spend his time doing just isn’t available to him at the moment.  His motocross bike and Playstation are in the UK and we haven’t got a garage either so he hasn’t got any projects going on.  He doesn’t at all make me feel bad…I just can’t help it sometimes!  However, that all changed last weekend!  He has been doing quite a lot of research and making a list of projects that he wants to complete.  On that list was a lamp made out of pipe fittings – a small project that he can complete in the apartment.

Welcome to Talented Tuesday No. 14!

Superbowl…what did you think to it?  I’ve never really experienced it before at all but thought I had better get into it a little bit more now I’m in the US.  There were LOADS of Super Bowl party posts flying around and I loved seeing how creative people were being.  I tuned in for the half time show and loved Miss Perry and Missy Elliott!  We watched a little bit of the game but I still can’t get my head around American football so we didn’t watch it all 🙂  I’m looking forward to seeing your linked up posts this week…I wonder whether there will be any Superbowl ones?

Sunday Sevens #21

This is a bit of a late one today…it is still Sunday in the USA though! I really can’t believe it is February today! Already!! This week has been a strange one as things have been quiet on the paperwork/ sorting side of things. Visa paperwork has been submitted and we just have to wait. Our UK house is on the market so we just have to wait for viewings. We have also sorted the container to ship our belongings over the the US; we just have to wait for them. I don’t like waiting. I like to be in control of everything and I can’t control any of these things. It has actually been nice to just catch up with a few things this week!

1. On Sunday, we visited an antique store on the other side of the bay. It has always intrigued me as it is called “Alice’s Wonderland”! What a great name! They had some gorgeous stuff in but I held back and only purchased a couple of vintage Hoover Dam postcards. I am building my collection of vintage PC’s, mainly of places we have visited.

Welcome to Talented Tuesday No. 13!

Thankfully We haven’t had any snow down here in Alabama- it’s actually quite sunny outside!  If you do have snow, I hope that it hasn’t caused too many problems for you and you are able to enjoy it.  Family and friends back in the UK had quite a bit of snow last week too so I am quite jealous that I haven’t been able to make snow angels 😦  Hopefully, you will have all been busy enough to have a couple of posts to link up.

The Delphine

As I am working my way through the Love At First Stitch book from Tilly & the Buttons, my next project was to be the Delphine skirt. The skirt is a simple a-line skirt with a certain amount of structure. I chose to use some fabric that I had found at an estate sale; very cheap as I got the full box of fabric for $5. I can’t even describe this fabric because I’m RUBBISH at recognising fabrics. All I can tell you is that it is woven, quite thick and makes my scissors fluffy!

I set out cutting the material and it worked perfectly with the small amount of fabric that I had. I just had enough interfacing left to use too. I cut a size 5 for this, despite my hip measurement being closer to a 4. I thought it would be better to match the pattern to my waist as that is where the fastening would sit. I was really impressed with how the skirt came together to start with. Overlocking was a breeze and it resembled a skirt very quickly *happy dance*.  I inserted an invisible zip and it was invisible! My last attempt at inserting an invisible zip was successful as the zip looked fabulous, it just wasn’t invisible. I concentrated more this time and managed to do it using only a normal zipper foot.
