Over the last 2 weeks, I slowly traced and cut the fabric for 3 different dresses that I had on my ‘to make’ list. I really hate tracing patterns & cutting fabric out so I decided to get this done all at once so that I could just get on with the construction of the dresses when I was ready.

A Lovely Make
After deciding that I want more tops for my wardrobe, I set out making view C of the 1810. I chose a silky polyester type material… I know…all of my current fabrics are some sort of silky polyester! This pattern appealed to me because it’s the style of top (& dress) that I like to wear – not figure hugging but drawn in at the waist.
Another view, Another Favourite!
My last make was the 1589a top with the peep hole back. Even though I have since altered the straps slightly, I really like the fit and style of it. I’m after a few tops that are light and not too long, allowing me to wear them with jeans, skirts or shorts. As the fit was nice and the top itself was relatively easy to make, I decided on giving view B a shot last week.
Back to Sewing – a Summer Simplicity
Last week it suddenly dawned on me that I gone a full month without sewing! :-0 With our lives being a little hectic, I suppose that I had just let it slip. It’s not a good enough excuse really as sewing is my favourite thing to do more than anything, yet I had let myself get hung up on too many other things and had not really been allowing myself any ‘me’ time! So I decided to set up a sewing station(despite our lack of furniture!) and got productive.
I recently bought a handful of Simplicity patterns while they were on sale for $3.99 over on Pattern Review. I took advantage of this offer as all of the patterns were at least $15 full price. If you haven’t checked out Pattern Review, you should! I always search patterns on there before sewing, mainly to get recommendations for fabrics and to check for any known fitting issues.
Vintage Pledge 2015: Number 1- McCall’s 4059
A few months ago I made my own Vintage Pledge to use at least 5 vintage patterns from my stash! If you would like to make your own pledge, head over to A Stitching Odyssey to check it out 🙂

The Week of Megan Dresses
I havent deviated from my plan yet! I am still working systematically through the Love At First Stitch book from Tilly Walnes. The next project in the book is the Megan dress. This is a dress that had appeared on my Twitter and Instagram feed quite a lot recently so I was really looking forward to making one for myself. I didn’t have any medium weight cottons in so chose firm woven polyester knits for both makes!
