Blakeley & Bugs

Independence Day is something we have never celebrated before and now it ia national holiday that we get to be involved in! Adam got Friday off work so we had a great 3 day weekend 🙂

We knew that we weren’t going to be heading out to watch any fireworks as we couldn’t leave Maisy alone so we ended up going for a nice walk & an explore Saturday morning.  We headed to Blakeley State Park, which is around a 10 minute drive from us.  It was $3 per adult to enter and we got a map, a self-guided tour and a bit of historical literature.  We parked up and decided to have a wander on our own rather than use the guide.  It was so hot and we knew that we wouldn’t get it all done in a couple of hours.

Sunday Sevens #24 – The Weekly Blog Series

I’m being a bit awkward this week (sorry!) as I have made a new Sunday Sevens image for your lovely sidebars!  I felt the other one wasn’t really appropriate as Sunday Sevens isn’t really a link party…. it is much more of a series!  I haven’t made it into a button though … it’s just an image that you can save and insert into your sidebar as an image widget and link back to this post 🙂

This image is 300 x 300 so you may need to scale it down to suit your widget/post!

If you are here for the first time… I’m going to give you the low down on the Sunday Sevens blog series.  Each week, we do things that don’t necessarily warrant a full blog post.  You may have made a nice meal, grabbed some bargains on a shopping trip, had a family day out, spotted some beautiful scenery or just done something you feel you want to share.  A Sunday Sevens blog post is the place to share those things.  You take 7 images from your week and post them every Sunday with a small description.  Tag your post using #sundaysevens on your blog and social media.  I also pin the posts onto the Sunday Sevens Pinterest Board.

Christmas Jumpers & a Day Trip to Dauphin Island

Both sets of parents and my brother came to visit for Christmas.  It was busy but nice to see them.  Even though we Skype them almost every week, it’s much better to see them in person and give them a good old hug.  It was our first time cooking for them all and it actually went pretty well.  I only burnt the pigs in blankets!  All the men donned Christmas jumpers and Sam had an extra special hat.

Oooooh Postcards!

I think I am the only person that I know of who gets excited over postcards!  Yes, that’s right, real excitement!  I love them ❤  I wrote about Postcrossing and Swap-bot a few months ago.  I have now started my own little postcard collection.  I select some to keep and have also got ones that I send out.  I recently got a few sets bought for me to send, but I honestly don’t think that I can send them to other people….is that sad?! Rhetorical question…please don’t answer!

Until I started looking, I never really realised that you could buy books of postcards or collections.  I always thought that they only came individually. :-/  My first postcard book came from Amazon as a ‘nearly new’ book, and it has Westies in it!  Who wouldn’t love a postcard with a Westie on!
