Goals: July 2015

Back at the start of June, I set myself a few goals to try and reach within the month. This was after reading a similar post from Handmade by Hannah. I actually really enjoyed having goals/ targets for the month as it spurred me on to complete things a little more than usual. So for July, I’m going to review the goals I set myself in June and set new ones for this month. πŸ™‚ Woohoo to goal setting!

I managed to get the Samantha Hayes book finished just in time for the end of the month! Read the review here.

Two garments were created from vintage patterns. The crossover dress & a sleeveless blouse, which still needs to be blogged about! One of the patterns turned out to be a size 24 and even though I could have redrafted the pattern, I couldn’t really be bothered so I didn’t use it. This has made me want to recycle some of my vintage patterns; the ones that I know I won’t be using due to size. If you fancy any of the ones below, let me know and I can post them out … Sharing is caring πŸ™‚

I managed to do my first garment from the Gertie Sews Vintage Casual book + the 2 Cynthia Rowley dresses I wanted to do. All are in the to be blogged about queue. I was super impressed with my sewing productivity in June as I managed to sew other garments in addition to the ones I had planned.

My fitness has started to improve, but not in a drastic way or anything! I’m starting to get into more of a routine with walking Maisy for a longer distance. I’ve also done Blogilates 3 times each week, working off the beginners calendar. I love Blogilates as I feel like it works without getting into too much of a sweaty mess!

There were 2 goals that I didn’t complete so I’m carrying these over to July.

1.) Bake some victoria sponge cupcakes.

2.) Complete my Westie cross stitch. I think I added 10 stitches to it this month…poor effort!

3.) Sew the wrap dress & pedal pushers from the Gertie book, and I want to make two short jumpsuits! :-0

4.) Make more of an effort to take photos of garments for the blog posts. I much prefer when photos have a nicer background but I just haven’t managed to get anywhere to take any…I have 4 draft blogs written waiting for photographs!

5. Read the below book & graphic novels, plus the first Game Of Thrones book(isn’t pictured).

6. Get back on track with meal planning as we have wasted quite a lot of food recently and had a few takeouts!

Let’s see how July goes!

  1. I’m glad to hear your goals worked out so well for you! I have to say that your “poor effort” followed by the sad doggie face in the cross-stitch made me laugh out loud, though. Poor doggie! πŸ˜‰

  2. I enjoyed reading this post on goals. Some of your old patterns brought back memories of my sewing. I think I made a couple of the ones pictured years ago. And the last Butterick and New Look patterns are very much on trend right now. Are they old, too? You mentioned that you have posts already written just waiting for pictures. I’m just the opposite. I take lots of pictures of my projects and then just write about the shots. It’s so much easier to do it that way for me.

    1. Thank you! The Butterick & New Look patterns are new but I’m not sure when they were originally printed – I managed to get them during a sale on Pattern Review πŸ™‚ All photos have been taken now so keep a look out for the posts!

  3. Great goals for July! I’m extremely envious of your recent sewing productivity! Looking forward to reading all about each unblogged make properly soon though πŸ™‚

  4. Congratulations, a month of ticking of goals! Looking forward to your dress posts, and to next month’s successes as well πŸ™‚

  5. You have been busy – setting goals obviously works well for you! Now get down to the blog posts so we can see the results of all this creativity:)

Let me know what you think...
