Welcome Back!

Let’s be honest…it’s been a while since I put anything on this blog; over a year in fact! So first of all, welcome back!  I’m planning on getting my blog back up and running as I’m still very much sewing every day and making lots of things that I can share with you.  I share a lot over on my Instagram but there are few garments that I would like to go into more detail about over here.

I’m planning on sharing some of my recent makes.  Some are sponsored, some are work related, some I’ve had the fabric given to me and some are just my own me mades.  I’ll be fully transparent within each blog, just so you know which is which!

Over the last year, I’ve really worked on building up more of my paid sewing work.  I’m working in the local community offering group classes and individual sewing classes.  My group classes have just got back going again, but with how the World is at the moment, my private lessons are becoming more popular.

I’m also on the writing team for Sewing Life Magazine [Aff Link].  It’s an online magazine which is released bimonthly.  You get a sewing pattern and a magazine that is full of useful articles.  I write a few articles and sew up samples for each edition.

Home-wise we are doing ok! As well as anyone can be doing through a pandemic anyway.  Rosie is 2 and a half and is quite the toddler.  She makes us laugh every day and now loves it when she gets to wear the clothes that Mama made for her!

Well, it does feel lovely to write another blog.  Something I haven’t really sat down to do for a long time.  Please say hello again! Speak soon xx

Sunday Sevens 2018 #5

So we are more than half way through the year and I’m only on my fifth Sunday Sevens post!  At least they are still going though…and I keep seeing a few other bloggers do their posts regularly so that’s always nice to see too.

I feel like recently I’ve done more sewing than I have done in a while so I think I’m starting to get back into the swing of things. I’ve got a few future projects lined up that I’m excited to dig into.  I’ve been trying to get things done while Rosie takes her afternoon nap but sometimes she joins me by the sewing table as you will see below.  Here’s a couple of mid project photos.  Both projects will be blogged about soon!

An Update About Me!

I decided to update my ‘about’ page so thought I would also publish it as a little blog post too. Enjoy!

A little while ago I began blogging about what my life was like after we moved over to Alabama from the UK. The blog mainly consisted of posts about what I was currently making and eating. Over time, Threads & Bobbins has evolved to be a broad Lifestyle blog with my sewing projects at the core.

I’ve been sewing for a while, dipping in and out of projects whenever time has allowed. Back in school, I completed my Textiles course and did reasonably well. My Grandma had always helped me with projects I had in mind growing up so I feel like sewing has just always been in my life. More recently, I’ve been sewing some of my own clothes…some of which have been great and others not so. But that’s one of the things I love about sewing; it’s a huge learning curve and with every garment I face new challenges.

Rainy Sunday: Baby Monitors, Baby Gap Haul, Rosie’s Closet & Sewing Aprons

A couple of weeks ago we had a Sunday at home as it was a little rainy. This is my first ‘proper’ vlog. I’ve shared a Gap haul, showed Rosie’s closet and talked about how I made some aprons. I need some baby monitor recommendations too. Enjoy!

Sunday Sevens 2018 #2

Well, this week for us has been a homey one. It reached -7°c at one point, which is the coldest it’s been here in Alabama while I’ve lived here! There was also a ‘State of Emergency’ issued for the flu epidemic. We decided to stay at home all week and get cosy by the fire. Rosie and I spent most of the week in our loungewear!

Sunday Sevens 2018 #1

It really does feel like such a long time since I last wrote a Sunday Sevens post but I’m starting the year as I plan to go on. Today’s post is a little bit of a catch up of little things from the last couple of months and in true tradition, it’s a day late!

It was my birthday back in December and Adam bought me a KitchenAid Stand Mixer. I’d been eyeing one up for a while and had heard a lot of great things about them. I’ve had a basic mixer for a while but as it was one from the UK, the voltage was different so it didn’t mix very well. I was very pleased to get this and it’s made baking so much quicker!
