Closet Core Patterns Pouf

For the longest time, the Closet Core Patterns Pouf has been on my list to make. I’ve seen many people sew one up but I’ve been waiting for the right time to make mine. A few factors made me pull the trigger on beginning construction. I knew that I wanted to stuff my pouf with scraps, so for almost 2 years, I’ve been bagging my scraps up and it finally reached a point where I had 3 large bags taking up space in a closet. I also knew that I wanted my pouf to be somewhat coordinated, so I had to wait for a time when I had enough coordinating fabric pieces that were big enough to cut out the pattern pieces.

The pouf itself is actually a free pattern. You have to sign up to the newsletter to get the access password but that’s not a big deal. I’m consciously trying to be aware of the emails I subscribe to, and anything sewing related is approved!

Our New Home!

After our Green Cards were approved back in June (yey us!), we knew that we wanted to start looking at houses.  As much as we had liked our apartment, we were getting to the stage where we felt very restricted and watched.  The dogs had no immediate place to run around together and I did feel a little awkward heading out with them first thing in my pyjamas, because let’s face it…not everyone gets dressed as soon as they wake up! 🙂 In addition to this, renting was just killing us.  It’s so expensive to rent and there’s nothing that we get to keep as the end result.

Sunday Sevens #57

After looking at the our living area last week I decided to have a bit of an apartment sort out! I’ve been planning pictures for walls, rugs & curtains so I’m excited to get it all sorted over the next couple of weeks and show you all. 🙂 Thank you for all the suggestions for our living room last week; it’s slowly coming together. In-between internet shopping i’ve managed to get the following photos for you:

1. I started a job that I had been putting off for a while: altering quilt covers. We had all of our bedding sets shipped across to us but not our quilt…I didn’t realise that the sizing would be different and I not can’t find a quilt to fit all the covers I have. Well I did find one but it was $300+!! We did have a small quilt shipped across so I have decided to alter the big covers to fit the small quilt and keep them for the spare room. Maisy has been camped on the pile all week!

Oh Little Alcove…What Shall You Be?

This space is in our new apartment.  As soon as I saw it, I thought it would be perfect for a sewing/ craft space!  My sewing machine could be out, I could put some shelves up and organise everything nicely.  However, I then realised that the space is directly opposite the kitchen and is included in the hallway space.  I don’t mind being in the way of walking down the hallway as it’s only Adam who would be walking past but I’m worried about kitchen smells.  Do I really want to be sewing a lovely dress and then cooking chicken fajitas mid make?
